Exercise 3a: party invitation

 

You have just graduated and are planning a party. Write an invitation to your party. You are going to hand out this invitation to several people so it can’t be to personal.

 

• Mention date, time and place
• Say why there is a party
• Who will be there
• Mention some activities (3 at least)
• Give the dresscode for your party
• Suggest what kind of presents you would like to get (four at least)
• Either ask people to bring food along or mention what kind of food will be served.

Exercise 3b: famous entertainer

 

For your party you decide to hire a famous entertainer. You have the money and you have received the business email adress of the entertainer. In the email you are going to write you will try to hire the entertainer for your party.

 

• Introduce yourself and the reason you are writing
• Mention when, where and how late the party is
• Ask if they can be booked for that time and date
• State for how long you want the entertainer to stay
• Try to confirm that the amount of money you heard you need is correct
• Tell what you want the entertainer to do (sing, dance, magic, jokes, act out movie scenes)
• Mention that they will have a private room to prepare for their performance and add that food and drinks are included fort hem.
• Finish by telling them you hope to hear from them soon.
