The Simple Past
The simple past is used to talk about things that happened in the past and are finished.
With the simple past there is always a clear indication of time.
- It says something about frequency (often, sometimes, always),
- A specific moment in time (last week, in 1990, yesterday, at seven o'clock)
- An undefined moment in time (the other day, ages ago, a long time ago)
The simple past is made by adding -ed to the verb (attention: this is only true for regular verbs).
Examples:
I walked to school yesterday.
The computer played the song every other day.
The boys always camped outside in the summer.
