Going to

 

This refers to things that happen in the future. You can use multiple ways to refer to things in the future. This part will discuss the use of "going to". With going to we talk about the future but there is always a connection to the present time.

 

Going to is used when you have made the decision before you started to speak      --> I am going to the beach next weekend.

Going to is also used when there are signs that something is likely to happen        --> My stomach hurts a lot and I think I am                                                                                                                                                                                  going to throw up.

 

Going to can also be used when something is about to happen                                        --> Get back! The bomb is going to                                                                                                                                                                                                  explode!
